It is every person entitled to receive a pension due to such person’s relativity to the pensioner as per the regulations and conditions stipulated by the pension schemes.

The beneficiaries of the civil and military pension schemes are the members of the retiree’s family after pensioner’s death being spouse – son – daughter – grandson / granddaughter of the son who died during the life of the pensioner – mother – father – grandfather – grandmother – brother – sister. Except (wife – son – daughter) it is a condition to prove that the beneficiary was dependent on the pensioner when the latter was alive. The dependence is proved under a legitimate “instrument” submitted to PPA. The pension beneficiary’s right shall be voided if such beneficiary was dependent on the pensioner jointly with another party. Moreover, the dependence instrument shall not be accepted if provided two years after the date of pension allocation or in case of death of the pensioner before providing the PPA with the proof.

Retirement Pension is not Inheritance:
We have to differentiate between the retirement pension and “inheritance” as some think that pension is entitled to all heirs of the deceased retiree and it is subject to the inheritance provisions. This is wrong and a mistake should be corrected as there are cases in which we find a heir not entitled to receive a retirement pension (son who joined a governmental job – married daughter) and there are other cases in which we find one who is deprived of inheritance such as a brother in cases of proving dependence.

Pension Allocation for a Beneficiary:
Beneficiaries shall notify the PPA about the death of a pensioner so that pension shall be distributed to beneficiaries under a copy of death proof and a copy of the inheritance declaration and a copy of the national IDs of male sons and a copy of deceased’s family registry and a copy of life proof in addition to attaching a proof of study for those who are over (21) years old and not exceeding (26) years at the death of a pensioner. Moreover, it is conditioned in case dependent male sons or brothers who reached 21 years and suffer complete disability preventing them from earning living saving that the same shall be proved under a medical report issued by the concerned medical authority.

The beneficiaries shall receive the entire pension irrespective of their number in case the pensioner was a military person. However, in case of civil pensioner, their number may not exceed three, but in case they are only two, they will receive 75 % of the pension and if there is only one single beneficiary, such sole beneficiary shall receive 50 % of the total pension value.
Pension shall be distributed equally to the beneficiaries. In general, the total amount spent for the receivers of one pension may not be less than 50 % of the total pension value or the minimum, whichever is greater.

Cases of Suspending Beneficiary’s Pension:
    • One male son reaches 21 years unless proves continuing study.
    • Male sons, who are proved to continue studying, exceed 26 years.
    • The marriage of a female beneficiary.
    • Absence of dependence conditions.
    • A beneficiary joins a governmental job.
    • Recovery of a disabled beneficiary.
    • Death.
